A periodic function has repeating data that forms a repeating graph

The axis of the curve is the horizontal line halfway between the minimum and maximum values of the periodic curve

The amplitude of the function is the distance from the axis of the curve to either the minimum or maximum values.

    amplitude = (maximum-minimum) / 2

The following periodic graphs are for f(x)=sin x, f(x)=cos x, and f(x)=tan x

The sin and cos graphs are sinusoidal with period 360° with amplitude 1.

The graph for tan has period 180° with no minimum or maximum.
